Financial Support

Below is a list of funding opportunities that students and early-career researchers may consider when applying to attend the Kudowa Summer School. These programmes have their own eligibility rules and application procedures, so please refer to the official pages for full details.
 

1. COST Action PROBONO

MSc and PhD students affiliated to a COST eligible country* and working in the field of laser-driven plasmas or/and proton-boron fusion can request financial support from COST Action PROBONO. This can be done during the registration process on the School registration page. Applicants submitting the “School Student / Young Researcher Registration Form” should select “YES” in the “Presentation” field, choose the topic “Proton–boron fusion & laser-induced plasmas”, indicate their intention to apply for financial support, and upload their CV and motivation letter. The deadline for financial support requests is 2nd of March, and the results for selected grantees will be announced one week later.

* Eligible trainees from COST Full Member, Cooperating Member, and Near Neighbour Countries.

15 granted students will have a reduced fee (including full-board lodging), which will be fully reimbursed by the daily allowance support from COST Action for the full attendance of the school. In addition, they will receive a reimbursed amount of up to 400€ for long-distance travel expenses (>100 km) to/from the venue.

2. FuseNet – Educational Events for MSc Students

A scheme aimed mainly at Master’s (MSc) students interested in nuclear fusion and fusion technology. It can support participation in summer schools, master classes and similar educational events outside the student’s home institution.

3. EUROfusion – Training & Education Programmes

EUROfusion offers training, education and mobility schemes for students, young researchers and engineers working in fusion-related fields. Eligibility depends on the specific programme.

4. Erasmus+ – Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals

Erasmus+ supports international mobility for students, doctoral candidates and university staff from institutions participating in the programme. In some cases, it can fund participation in short courses or summer schools abroad. Applicants should contact their university’s International Office or Erasmus coordinator for guidance.

5. NAWA – Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange

NAWA offers a variety of mobility programmes for international students. Specific eligibility criteria depend on the programme and may include nationality, level of study or language requirements.

6. IAEA – Fellowships, Scientific Visits and Travel Grants

The International Atomic Energy Agency provides fellowships, scientific-visit opportunities and travel support aimed at developing competencies in nuclear science and technology. Most programmes are open to nationals of IAEA Member States who meet the relevant requirements.
